Matt Hertel

Most folks won't see Matt during their visit to the Edge because he's responsible for a lot of the behind-the-scenes maintenance of the facility. In winter that means moving lots of snow - clearing roofs, paths, and plowing. In the summer, he's usually running around behind the scenes, setting the stage for guides and kitchen staff to provide our memorable experiences.

If you are going on an adventure, you may get the chance to meet Matt. He often helps shuttle guests to and from remote locations for sea kayak and canoe trips, and guides some of our shorter Algonquin Park canoe trips.

Matt feels most alive when playing with his son Aiden and daughter Katie.

Aiden Lucier-Hertel

Aiden is Matt and Emily's 5-year old son. He loves to come spend time out at the Edge, helping with the gardens and general maintenance, and he often comes into our office to push the "magic buttons."

Aiden feels most alive when learning, and when playing sports.
